Fan Expo Canada features its usual parade of b-actors and cult-hit personalities, but this year's sci-fi fandango also features close encounters of the Richard Dreyfuss kind. We spoke to the veteran American actor, known for roles in such major films as American Graffiti , Jaws , Stand By Me , Down and Out in Beverly Hills , The Goodbye Girl , What About Bob? and, yes, Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind , from Los Angeles.

In the new the era of fake news it should go without saying that there are "studies" to prove almost any theory and more than enough bullshit media experts out there to quantify them. Case in point, FYE.com recently released a study claiming "millennials don't appreciate classic movies."

It is testament perhaps to the enduring power of cinema, and of one film in particular - 1979's Alien , directed by Ridley Scott - that when actress Sigourney Weaver walks into the room she brings with her a certain sensibility. Weaver's on-screen alter-ego Ellen Ripley was Hollywood's first modern female action hero, and that performance has become a touchstone for many actresses since, most recently Gal Gadot, whose screen reboot of Wonder Woman broke box-office records.
