Saban Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights to three films from Millennium Media, most notably the latest remake of George Romero's 1985 third feature in his zombie series "Day of the Dead". Sophie Skelton, Johnathon Schaech, and Marcos Vanco star in the new 'Day' about a group of military personnel, scientists and survivalists who dwell in an underground bunker as they seek to find a cure in a world overrun by zombies.

Some of it is too broad, and I wish it dug a little deeper at times, but this is one of those rare inspirational films "The Ballad of Narayama" is a Japanese film of great beauty and elegant artifice, telling a story of startling cruelty. What a space it opens In 2017, Asians and Asian Americans and, indeed, all minorities, need to be more than local color or types who can be easily replaced.
