Disney Channel is developing a TV movie remake of the 1993 Bette Midler Halloween film, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The current iteration, which will center on a new story and new characters, hails from writer Scarlett Lacey and executive producer David Kirschner, who produced the original film and who co-wrote the story on which the film is based.

The movie is set to be released in 2018 and is directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Danny McBride who is no stranger to Charleston since his HBO show, Vice Principals, is shot in the city.
