Role Recall: William H. Macy on talking 'Fargie,' shooting 'Boogie Nights' suicide, and crying for 12 hours during 'Pleasantville' William H. Macy has been a professional actor his entire adult life, but he didn't become a film star until he was well into his 30s. "I started my career [on the stage] in Chicago, and we were relatively snobbish about not only Chicago but the theater," said Macy, who in the 1970s formed a theater company there with playwright David Mamet.

The 'Ghost Stories' actor - who plays Mike Priddle in the new horror film - opened up about the possibility of supernatural spooks and ghastly ghouls as he chatted about his role in the movie. Appearing on 'The Graham Norton Show', he was asked by fellow guest Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson if he believed in ghosts, and Martin replied: "I'm open to it until there is definitive proof."
