I was mildly concerned last year when Universal pushed the release of the Wolf Man remake back more than six months, but now there are all kinds of warning signs, with word that there have been six weeks of re-shoots. The main sticking point is the design of the Wolf Man itself, which presumably will look different from the pic to the right — more animalistic and walking on all fours. Looks like Halloween this year might not be dominated by the Saw franchise, as it has been for the past several years. The Box, starring Cameron Diaz and James Marsden and directed by Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko), is set to open on October 30 in what will presumably be a wide release. The new trailer looks promising — certainly better than 2008’s Saw alternative, The Haunting of Molly Hartley (shudder).

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the pair who’ve written the last three Saw films and all three pics in the Feast series (thanks to their success on the TV show Project Greenlight), next bring us The Collector, an intriguing tale of a would-be burglar who breaks into a house that’s already under siege by a masked madman. Dunstan is making his directorial debut. The trailer looks promising, and you won’t have long to wait for the final product, which hits theaters on July 31 (likely in limited release).
