The Numbers Are In: The Top-Grossing Horror Movies of 2011

As we reflect on 2011, we think not only about the best horror/suspense movies of the year (here and here), but also about the most popular horror movies of the year. Sadly, as with everything in life, those two lists don’t necessarily match up, but genre purists should at least be comforted to see that the story of the year might be under-performing horror remakes like Fright Night, The Thing, Straw Dogs and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark — none of which cracked the top 10 genre flicks for the year.
