Disturbia Writer to Pen a Goosebumps Movie?

Columbia pictures is moving ahead with plans to adapt the Goosebumps series of horror-themed adolescent books into at least one movie — and no doubt more, given the franchise’s 100-plus entries and spin-offs. Prolific author R.L. Stine — a sort of Stephen King for the pre-teen crowd — won’t be penning the script, however. Those duties go to screenwriter Carl Ellsworth, who wrote Disturbia, Red Eye and a couple of remakes: the upcoming Red Dawn and The Last House on the Left. With that resumé, you have to wonder if Ellsworth’s rendering of Goosebumps might be a bit edgier than you’d think. There’s no word on which book the movie will adapt, if any, nor what the target date for release would be.
