Everyone is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, a picnic dinner or some popcorn to the first screening of the season of Camden Public Library's Monday Night Movies series. "Little Shop of Horrors" will be screened Monday, July 16, at 8:30 p.m. on an inflatable screen in Camden Amphitheatre, Atlantic Avenue.

A U.S. Coast Guard crew in Maine had a literal real-life "Jaws" experience when a massive, 20-footer passed by their motor lifeboat this week. Coast Guard Station Boothbay Harbor posted the video on social media Tuesday, noting the encounter happened as the crew was returning from a search and rescue mission.

Word on the street is that Idris Elba is in "final negotiations" to play a major part in the FAST AND FURIOUS spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham tentatively titled HOBBS AND SHAW based on their characters from the series. It's believed Elba will be playing the film's villain, squaring off against the series alumni.

The final scenes of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey may finally have an explanation, with a video surfacing on YouTube that purportedly shows Kubrick detailing the meaning behind the film's ambiguous ending, io9 reports . As io9 explains, Kubrick doesn't actually appear on screen.

The horror genre is an ideal mechanism by which to explore our darkest fears, but not all of those fears are as rudimentary as, say, getting stabbed. The world is a complex and harrowing place where politics - social, economic, and otherwise - are a constant factor in everyone's lives, and in which the marginalized have much to fear from a system that does not treat them equally.
