Actor Peter Cushing and his wife Helen, as it was revealed the Star Wars actor is to be honoured with a blue plaque Star Wars actor Peter Cushing will be honoured with a blue plaque at his childhood home, English Heritage has announced. The actor, who died in 1994, is best known for playing Grand Moff Tarkin in the ground-breaking 1977 film but also starred in numerous fantasy and horror films, including 23 Hammer Film Productions.

The Los Angeles surgeon and hospital accused of causing actor Bill Paxton's death in 2017 say they're not to blame. Dr. Ali Khoynezhad and Cedars Sinai Medical Center claim in a new court filing that the "Aliens" and "Twister" actor had an "existing condition" that rendered him "susceptible to potential complications" and that he "knowingly and voluntarily" agreed to a procedure for aortic aneurysm repair a week before his death.

The organization that bestows the Academy Awards announced Thursday that it has voted to expel two prominent members convicted of sexual offenses, Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski, from its membership. It's the first major decision since the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences implemented revised standards of conduct for its over 8,400 members following its expulsion of disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein in October.

More than 2,000 pieces of movie memorabilia including costumes and props used by James Dean and the lightsaber wielded by Obi-Wan Kenboi in "Star Wars" are headed to the auction block. The auction house Profiles in History announced Thursday that the items, which include a practice chariot used during production of "Ben Hur," the leather jacket worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first "Terminator" film and a nightgown used by Olivia de Havilland during "Gone With the Wind" filming are among the sale items.

Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes is to guest star in Call The Midwife as the show explores the stories of child refugees in the UK. The veteran star of stage and screen will appear in this year's Christmas episode as the BBC announced filming was under way for the festive one-off as well as a new series of eight episodes for 2019.
