If you're a fan of the great John Waters than you are aware of his stable of performers, the collection of freaks and goons and comedy geniuses who Waters has steadily employed since he first starting smashing cinema taboos in late '60s Baltimore. But outside of the late transvestite icon Divine, Waters' steadiest and most beloved movie muse is the amazing Mink Stole who has essayed a dizzying array of bizarre characters of every persuasion in every single film Waters has ever made, from the filthy Connie Marble in Pink Flamingos to the tormented Dottie Hinkle in Serial Mom and beyond.

NBC took a big risk this midseason with the debut of Taken , which is a TV adaptation of a very popular film best known for Liam Neeson's performance. The series would have to try and bring the same kind of suspense to an ongoing series with an actor who is very much not Liam Neeson.

Rest assured that if you thought the Children in last night's episode of American Gods was a reference to A Clockwork Orange , you weren't wrong. American Gods' pilot introduced a number of important characters who audiences will become acquainted with in the coming weeks, but two, faceless lackeys may have seemed eerily familiar.

Oscar-winning director Jonathan Demme passed away on April 26 of esophageal cancer at the age of 73. He's one of America's most respected filmmakers with such films under his belt like the cult classic Something Wild and the powerhouse Tom Hanks vehicle, Philadelphia . His most famous work however, is his adaptation of the Thomas Harris novel, The Silence of the Lambs .

Top Gun star Val Kilmer has appeared to confirm he had cancer, after previously claiming he had "no cancer whatsoever". While answering questions put to him by Reddit users, the actor revealed he "did have a healing of cancer" and was still dealing with a swollen tongue.

In late 2015, it was revealed that 20th Century Fox 's plans for Neill Blomkamp's proposed Alien 5 were in a holding pattern pending the release of Ridley Scott's prequel Alien: Covenant . Now that we're weeks away from Covenant 's May 19 bow in theaters, Scott has been asked by Allocine about Blomkamp's fivequel and he suggests it's no longer an active project at all.

It appears that Ridley Scott will be the only filmmaker making Alien movies for the foreseeable future. When Scott signed on to helm Prometheus , it not only marked a return to the franchise that birthed his career, but also his first sci-fi film since Blade Runner .

The Ghost And The Darkness actor has previously denied he had the illness, but seemed to admit it during a "ask me anything" event on social media site Reddit. Hollywood legend Michael Douglas even confirmed Val had been battling the disease , letting slip about his old pal who also starred in The Ghost And The Darkness with him in 1996 during a Q&A with Jonathan Ross.
