"District 9" and "Elysium" director Neill Blomkamp got "Aliens" fans in a tizzy when he talked about his plans for a direct follow-up to James Cameron's 1986 sci-fi starrer. Asked for an update on the project this week on Twitter though, the director now says that the odds of his film actually going into production are "slim".

The production has brought on board Betty Gabriel as the female lead opposite Logan Marshall-Green in the sci-fi thriller from writer-director Leigh Whannell, the co-creator of the Saw and Insidious horror franchises.

This is an argument I have made before - as have plenty of old-school film aficionados - and it all comes down to tangibility.
