When "The Wanderers" strutted into U.S. theaters on July 13, 1979, audiences stayed away, opting for the more familiar pleasures of "Rocky 2" and "Moonraker" and "The Muppet Movie." On the surface, Philip Kaufman's comic drama about a group of Italian-American teenagers growing up in the Bronx in 1963 seemed too similar to "The Warriors," Walter Hill's drama about contemporary New York City street gangs, which had come out four months earlier .

Peter Jackson 's next movie, the YA adaptation "Mortal Engines," will land in theaters on December 14, 2018, Universal announced on Thursday. Jackson and longtime collaborator Fran Walsh are following their award-winning "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies by producing and co-scripting another big-screen take on a fantastical book series, this one based on Philip Reeve's award-winning "Mortal Engines."

SEDUCTION, sex and sorcery, along with a liberal scattering of naughty humour and vulgar language - on the face of it this was a big risk for Redditch Operatic Society, but in the competent hands of director Tony Jay this gorgeously wacky show was appreciated by an enthusiastic audience, writes Andrew Powell. With truly uncomfortable moments of seduction, the process of deliberately enticing a person to engage in a, often sexual, relationship, this weird show will not have been to everybody's taste.
