EXCLUSIVE : In feverish bidding, Fox Searchlight has acquired rights to the Sacha Baron Cohen comedy Greed , produced by UK production banner Revolution Films . Baron Cohen is teaming with Brit helmer Michael Winterbottom , who is set to direct, with Melissa Parmenter producing.

Things have not been going entirely smoothly for CBS's attempt to bring Star Trek back to TV for Star Trek: Discovery . Pre-production on the series hit a few speed bumps, but the major hiccup happened a few weeks ago when the show's head creative figure, Bryan Fuller , left the project.

It can be hard to get overly excited about a project that is just in its most nascent stage of development - a lot can change, it's a long way off from being seen, and it might not even happen at all. But then you get something like this John Callahan biopic, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot , with Gus Van Sant directing and Joaquin Phoenix attached to star you start to think yeah, ok, you've sold me already.

The Dairy Center is showing "Pink Flamingos," John Waters' magnum opus of sleaze, as part of the Friday Night Weird film series this weekend. It's a question that I've been pondering over the last week after watching master of schlock John Waters' 2006 one-man show "This Filthy World" on Netflix.
