There was a shark attack at Tinside Lido last night - but fortunately nobody was injured by the two-dimensional creature. Those after a thrill made their way to the iconic waterfront spot to lay back on deck chairs and enjoy the Steven Spielberg classic about a small American seaside town terrorised by a great white shark.

Lionsgate screened Adam Wingard's latest film under the title 'The Woods' at Comic-Con, surprising-and thrilling-a crowd of horror superfans. In the midst of the most overstuffed pop culture event of the year, with most of Hollywood keeping their wares away from Hall H, one studio pulled off a coup at Comic-Con with two simple words: Blair Witch .

The cast and crew of the A&E drama announced at San Diego Comic-Con International that the singer-actress will join them to portray the role originated by Janet Leigh in the original film version of "Psycho." "Bates Motel" executive producers Kerry Ehrin and Carlton Cuse were with cast members Vera Farmiga, Freddie Highmore, Max Thieriot and Nestor Carbonell on Friday to discuss the show's upcoming final season.

Next Friday, the museum plans to screen Alfred Hitchcock's thriller "The Birds" in its outdoor amphitheater next to the Hall of Geological Wonders. Activities begin at 7 p.m. with cocktails, music from a local DJ, "ornithology arts and crafts tomfoolery," and "bird-stalking" photo opportunities, according to a news release.

The early 1960s was quite an interesting time for horror cinema, seemingly caught between two different eras. With the release of Psycho, the public realized that horror cinema could be graphic and outrageous in ways that it had never achieved before.
