Nowadays, it's more difficult for a superhero movie to be successful simply by being a standard "save the world in a costume" kind of adventure. Another way for them to dazzle audiences is by mixing another genre into the narrative, which Marvel has been doing in recent years.

The 2016 Summer Film Series at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Ala., features 18 movies, including "National Lampoon's Vacation," "Raiders of the Lost Ark" "Gone With the Wind" and "Jaws" The Alabama Theatre's 2016 Summer Film Series gets off to a heart-pounding, hair-raising start tonight with Harrison Ford as the swashbuckling archaeologist Indiana Jones in the 1981 Steven Spielberg adventure "Raiders of the Lost Ark." This year's summer lineup at Birmingham's 88-year-old "Showplace of the South" lineup features 18 movies, including comedies , thrillers , musicals and classics .
