Some musicals make you think, some make you cry, while others just give you a permanent smile on your face for the duration of the show. The latter was the state of this reviewer as we set sail on the S.S. American for a rollicking "Bon Voyage" in Goodspeed Musicals ' opening show of the 2016 season, ANYTHING GOES.

The Tribeca Film Festival celebrated its 15th anniversary this year, and the occasion was marked by the return of cinema luminaries and the debuts of fresh talent. Read on for some bite-sized takes on some of the event's most noteworthy films! The Tom Hiddleston -starring "High-Rise" combined the class metaphors of "Snowpiercer" and the out-of-control partying of "The Wolf of Wall Street" to produce a movie that had all of the ingredients needed to make something special.

What do you get when you combine the talents of writer-director Lawrence Kasdan , whose films are character-driven and meditative, and Stephen King , whose stories often focus on ordinary people in extraordinary situations? You probably expect to see an odd hybrid that is part "The Big Chill," part "Stand by Me." Well, if you toss in a smidgen of thematic material from Byron Haskin's 1953 invaders-from-Mars classic "The War of the Worlds," the result of such a mashup is Kasdan's 2003 film "Dreamcatcher," a science fiction/horror tale based on King's eponymous 2001 novel.

The year was 1997, and the actress, then 27 and skirting stardom, was filming The Land Girls , a wartime drama in which she played a bookish beauty who joins the Dig for Victory campaign.

The flytraps in Mark Todd's care don't resemble anything like Audrey II, the monster flytrap-like plant voiced by late Four Tops' lead singer Levi Stubbs in the movie remake of "Little Shop of Horrors," from 1986. Todd, the conservation director for, and a founding board member of, the North American Sarracenia Conservancy , will discuss southeastern North Carolina's native species of carnivorous plants - including Venus flytraps, pitcher plants, and sundews - in a program at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Museum of Coastal Carolina, in Ocean Isle Beach.
