Not everyone loves horror movies, but most people can remember peeking through their fingers or covering their ears the first time they experienced a good scare from a movie. Unfortunately, sometimes horror movies run the risk of being cliche, predictable gore-fests.

Two of my niche film studies interests come together this week with the release of 10 Cloverfield Lane : movie locations and movie titles. The former just goes along with my general love of geography, plus the study of the importance of place and space in cinema, both physically and virtually.

Iconic filmmaker/composer John Carpenter has released "Angel's Asylum," the second track off his upcoming album "Lost Themes II" . The song, which premiered March 9, 2016 features his patented mix of sinister synths and atmospheric dread, made famous on his scores for films like "Halloween" and "Escape From New York."

Richard O'Brien, creator of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," says he agrees with feminist Germaine Greer's transphobic comments during an interview with Metro. According to Pink News , Metro asked O'Brien for his thoughts on comments Greer and Barry Humphries, who plays comedic drag persona Dame Edna, made about the trans community.
