Big Read Dearborn Calls for Entries in Juried Art Contest

The Big Read Dearborn, a community-wide reading celebration taking place across Dearborn this winter, will accept entries for an open art competition on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The book selected by the Dearborn Public Library for this year's event is "Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe." Art entries should reflect the Poe-inspired theme "Dreaming Dreams No Mortal Ever Dreamed Before."

Iconic Prop Shark from ‘Jaws’ Goes from Junkyard to Museum

The Academy Museum announced today that it has acquired the sole surviving full-scale model of "Bruce," the killer great white shark from "Jaws." Created for display at Universal Studios Hollywood in 1975 for the Steven Spielberg thriller's release, the Fiberglas prop is the fourth and final version made from the original mold.

Actress Redgrave urges help for Greece with refugee crisis

On a visit to a migrant reception center in Athens, award-winning British actress Vanessa Redgrave said on Tuesday world governments must do more to help Greece combat the refugee crisis. Redgrave added Greece must not be left to cope with the refugee influx as she toured the Eleonas reception facility.
