There have been a truly ridiculous amount of DVD and Blu-ray releases for the Evil Dead series, Army of Darkness included. So it's understandable that a fan would say, "Wait, you want me to get this movie again !?" when hearing a new version of any of these films is out - and perhaps be extra cautious and skeptical noting the release is obviously tied to the debut of Ash vs Army of Darkness .

The first time I ever saw Victor Halperin's 1932 film White Zombie it was part of an unintentional and incongruous double feature. I had snuck into a University of Chicago classroom screening of Max Ophuls's venerated Lola Montes and then sprinted across campus to see White Zombie at Doc Films immediately afterwards.

In the storied history of Los Angeles city government, it may have been the first time that a city lawmaker earnestly urged the public, "Give yourself over to absolute pleasure." Councilman Paul Koretz and other lawmakers declared Friday "Rocky Horror Picture Show Day" in a tribute to the campy cult classic known for its raucous midnight screenings, welcoming its star Tim Curry, producer Lou Adler and costumed performers to the ordinarily staid chambers of City Hall.

David Spring will be playing the Trinity Episcopal Church organ to accompany a showing of the old silent film version of 'Phantom of the Opera' on Halloween night. EVERETT - Think about the heavy organ chords played in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera."

Teenagers and young adults in my hometown of Verona and other Pittsburgh suburbs had many local choices of movie theaters in 1960, though nothing compared with a trip to one of the palaces Downtown. Many towns had at least two movie theaters, including the Olympic and the Liberty in Verona.
