Three decades of an intimate letter-writing friendship between two of America's most celebrated poets, Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowe ll , are brought to life by Jo Beth Williams and Julian Sands . Sarah Ruhl 's thoughtful epistolary play traces Bishop and Lowell's correspondence from their first letters in May 1947 to Lowell's death thirty years later.

From Johnny Depp in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" to Jamie Lee Curtis in "Halloween," horror films have been a good way for actors to cut their teeth in Hollywood. "The Gallows," opening Friday, features a cast of relatively unknown actors hoping to make their mark, including Cassidy Gifford, the 21-year-old daughter of TV personality Kathie Lee Gifford and former football player Frank Gifford.

HISTORIC Leighton Hall near Carnforth will host an outdoor screening of the Stanley Kubrick cult movie The Shining on July 31. Revellers are invited to dress up, take part in an 80s quiz, party with a retro disco from 7:30 pm and enjoy their picnics and drinks, before the film starts at dusk, around 9:30pm. Ticket prices are A 15, or A 25 for overnight camping.

How much is too much when it comes to violence in movies that are clearly aimed at kids? Let's not beat around the bush here. It's obvious that the level of violence in live-action movies that are meant to attract youngsters has gone way up in the past, oh, let's say, two decades.

Micky Dolenz 's cabaret show at New York City's 54 Below was billed "A Little Bit Broadway, a Little Bit Rock 'N' Roll." But it might just as well been titled "A Little Bit for Me, A Little Bit for You."
