Clockwork Orange actor Morris dies

British actor Aubrey Morris, best known for playing probation officer Mr Deltoid in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film A Clockwork Orange, has died aged 89. He also had roles in cult horror film The Wicker Man, Lisztomania and Woody Allen comedy Love and Death during his five decade career. Morris played the gravedigger in Robin Hardy's 1973 film The Wicker Man, which starred Edward Woodward and Sir Christopher Lee.

Early in his career, Lance Henriksen worked for six months with influential French filmmaker Francois Truffaut when both men acted in director Steven Spielberg's classic 1977 sci-fi fantasy "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Henriksen played Robert, assistant to Truffaut's inquisitive French scientist Dr. Lacombe.

Whose screams rise the hairs on the back of your neck? Janet Leigh's famous shower screech in "Psycho?" One of the many her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis belted out in the "Halloween" films? Or maybe you prefer Danielle Harris' versions? A new study says one thing's for sure: the vocalizations of all these scream queens scare us because they target a special acoustic "sweet spot" in our brain, designed to snap us to attention to possible danger. "If you ask a person on the street what's special about screams, they'll say that they're loud or have a higher pitch," said senior author David Poeppel, professor of psychology and neural science at New York University.
