Actor Robert Z'Dar, the massive man with the gigantic chin best known for the cult film series Maniac Cop , died Monday night in Pensacola after being hospitalized when he came to town to appear at Pensacon, according to his long-time manager and friend Jim Decker. He was 64. Born Robert J. Zdarsky in Chicago, the 6-foot-2 actor was featured in more than 121 films, including cult classics like the first three Maniac Cop films, Soultaker , The Final Sanction and Samurai Cop .

As was confirmed earlier this month by director F. Javier Gutierrez , the upcoming horror film Rings is a sequel that is set 13 years after the events that occurred in both The Ring and The Ring Two . Most sequels might use this long stretch of time to have the story detach from the original and move forward with an entirely new plot and group of characters, but that's evidently not what Rings will be doing.

Carl Gottlieb met Steven Spielberg through their mutual agent, Mike Medavoy, when the Oscar-winning director was still "the new kid in town" back in 1968. Gottlieb had established himself as a performer -- he was a member of the popular San Francisco improv group the Committee -- and was on the writing staff, along with Steve Martin, of "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" on CBS when he became a friend of the 21-year-old Spielberg.

The 110-acre Land Of Illusion Haunted Scream Park is bustling with visitors around Halloween, but now the owners are hoping to grow their business by creating the Land of Illusion Studios & Backlot on the property. FilmDayton and Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Film Commission are promoting the new venue along with other areas in the Tristate.

While nothing is set in stone and no official announcements have been made by anyone associated with the film, Stu Tinker, owner and operator of SK Tours, the official Stephen King tour of Bangor, took a production designer from the upcoming Hollywood two-part remake of King's "It" on a tour of the city on Monday. Tinker, who owned King-centric bookstore Bett's Books and has for 18 years run SK Tours, took production designer Mara LaPere-Schloop on a tour of the city, scoping out locations including the Thomas Hill Standpipe, the land running alongside the Kenduskeag Stream that in "It" is called The Barrens, and the Waterworks on the Penobscot River.
