There's a laugh-out-loud funny scene in Daniel Radcliffe's new movie, "Horns," where his horn-headed, murder suspect character -- who develops the strong power of persuasion over nearly everybody he comes into contact with -- tells a group reporters trailing him to beat the living daylights out of each other. Thankfully, this reporter didn't have to fulfill the same requirements to talk with Radcliffe the actor about the film.

It seemed a fairly ordinary day when Emily Putscher, BC '15, and Nikita Ash, BC '16, left the comfort of their dorm rooms that late October morning to visit me, writer and now friend of both of them. It's true there weren't dark storm clouds, heavy, black, and pendulous, toward which they were walking.

Picking the best horror movies for Halloween is easy: There is plenty to choose from and I had to leave out some greats, including Roman Polanski's Repulsion. But picking the worst is difficult: There are even more candidates because the horror genre attracts so many hacks making cheapo dreck.

The independent theater has slated screening of "The Shining" beginning on Halloween, and showing through Nov. 4. Check its website for show times . Viewing the 1980 classic adapted from a Stephen King novel, directed by Stanley Kubrick, and starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall was so exciting for staff members, they decided to produce their own homage to the film.
