" ." - Person or Entity that said it The pairing of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon in their sequel to The Trip suggested a standard buddies-on-the-run romp where everything goes wrong yet is resolved in the end. After all I hadn't seen the original prior to this screening.

Ernie Barbarash's "Falcon Rising," now showing in select theaters across the country, is similar to recent throwback direct-to-video action cheapies like Isaac Florentine's "Ninja" or Roel Reine's "The Marine 2" in that offers a return to the kind of uncomplicated, damaged hard man punches his way to the heart of a mystery action filmmaking that was so popular in the late 80s and early 90s. It is unlike those films in that it is visually unengaging and is so poorly plotted that its narrative goes beyond cheesy and ends up in the anhedonic realm of a Disney Channel sitcom.

Jerry Brown and GOP sacrificial virgin Neel Kashkari. Kashkari, you may remember as either the guy who oversaw the unpopular Troubled Asset Relief Program or as the guy who almost ate Brendan Fraser in the more popular The Mummy .

The filmmaker John Waters's work has been adapted for Broadway and been screened at institutions for the criminally insane, but on Friday, it begins a run in new territory: the Film Society of Lincoln Center. "50 Years of John Waters: How Much Can You Take?" encompasses the range of the Baltimore writer-director's unconventional output, from sleazefests such as "Pink Flamingos"-starring Divine, a 300-pound drag queen who became Mr. Waters's greatest discovery-to movies with bankable stars such as Kathleen Turner and Johnny Depp .

I really enjoy Richard Carlson and his work in '40s "B" movies, so I was very glad to have the chance to see him in HIGHWAYS BY NIGHT , which has been on my wish list for some time. HIGHWAYS BY NIGHT was a fast-moving, very entertaining little movie in which Carlson plays sheltered millionaire Tommy Van Steel, an engineering genius who never uses a short word when a long one will do.
