As reported last summer, NBC is developing a four-hour miniseries based on Ira Levin's bestselling 1967 novel Rosemary's Baby -- most widely known as the source material for Roman Polanski's 1968 film of the same name. Five months later, we have word that Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Avatar) has signed on to star in the role of Rosemary, played famously by Mia Farrow in the original movie. The updated version will be set in Paris and will be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Agnieszka Holland (The Secret Garden, Europa Europa, In Darkness). Do Saldana and Holland's involvement allay your fears that this could be a cheesy network TV production? They certainly don't hurt, and to NBC's credit, at least the network isn't trying to stretch the story beyond its means into a full-fledged series. There's no official air date yet, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Rosemary's Baby this fall -- Halloween perhaps?
