If you're bemoaning the lack of major theatrical horror releases between Halloween and the new year, you may want to give The Last Days on Mars a shot. It may technically be a small independent film, but it's got a big-screen feel and is certainly superior to recent major-studio sci fi horror fare like Apollo 18.
