There's already a sequel to The Conjuring in the works, but apparently, the folks at New Line/Warner Brothers have bigger plans for the hit haunted house film. According to ShmoesKnow.com, they're working simultaneously on a spinoff centering around the unnerving doll Annabelle, whose B-story stole some of the thunder from the movie's main narrative. According to the site, The Conjuring's Director of Photography, John R. Leonetti, will direct the new film, presumably a prequel telling of the exploits of Annabelle (who in real life is actually much less creepy-looking Raggedy Ann doll) before paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Rita Warren acquired her. The report says that production will begin in the spring of 2014, although that seems like an awfully quick turnaround if you're to believe the rumor.
