Tales from the Darkside, the George Romero-created anthology TV series that ran from 1984 to 1988 and spawned a 1990 theatrical film, may get a chance to scare a new generation of horror fans courtesy of The CW. The network has begun development on a "reinvention" of the show with an impressive lineup of creative talent that includes writer Joe Hill (whose novel Horns was turned into a movie starring Daniel Radcliffe that should be released next year) and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (who brought us the Fox show Sleepy Hollow and blockbuster films like Star Trek and Transformers). Hill, Kurtzman and Orci previously worked together on the TV adaptation of Hill's comic Locke & Key, which Fox declined to pick up as a series in 2011. If all goes well and CW picks up Tales from the Darkside, it could air as early as the summer of 2014. Keep your amputated fingers crossed.
