It seems a week can’t go by without another “found footage” horror movie hitting the market, and the latest is Hollow, which is kind of like The Blair Witch Project with a British slant…and a monk instead of a witch…and no real scares to speak of. Read about it in my review of Hollow, currently available on demand.

Check Out the Crazy Trailer for The Collection

I wasn’t a fan of The Collector, in part because the concept was so ridiculous, but watching the trailer for The Collection, it strikes me that INCREASING the ridiculousness — as this sequel seems to do — rather than decreasing it, might be the way to go. The Collection appears to amp up the action and the body count to a level that matches the outlandishness of the concept, and so, although I disliked the first movie, I have to admit that I’m hopeful about this new film. We’ll see if I’m right when The Collection hits theaters on November 30.

Lionsgate has announced new release dates for two of its 2013 horror releases. The action-horror hybrid I, Frankenstein — starring Aaron Eckart as the classic monster in modern times, who “finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans” — has been bumped from February 22 to September 13 to to make room for The Rock’s next actioner Snitch (distributed by Lionsgate’s newly acquired Summit Entertainment). Meanwhile, the buzz-worthy home invasion movie You’re Next — from the folks behind A Horrible Way to Die — has finally received a concrete release date: August 23.

With the fall TV season set to kick into high gear, you might be wondering when your favorite (or soon-to-be-favorite) horror/suspense shows will premiere. Well, here’s a handy summary for your viewing pleasure. Unfortunately, all but one of the new shows — 666 Park Avenue — are slated for mid-season (or possibly later, especially in the case of the eagerly anticipated Munsters reboot, Mockingbird Lane). For details on the new shows, check out my rundown.  Note: All times are ET/PT.
