It took over a year, but it looks like Joss Whedon's The Cabin in the Woods might finally see the light of day. Originally targeting a February 2010 release, the horror spoof (with taglines like "If you hear a strange noise outside...have sex" and "If an old man warns you not to go there...make fun of him") produced and co-written by Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Whedon had been delayed a couple of times so far -- both for 3-D conversion and for MGM's financial troubles.

Given the lack of buzz around it (and advertising for it), the comic book adaptation Dylan Dog: Dead of Night received an unexpectedly wide release this past weekend -- granted, a "small wide" release of 875 theaters -- and the result was predictably meager: an estimated $885,000. That was good enough for only 16th place at the box office, with an average of barely $1,000 per screen -- or less than the per-screen average Insidious boasted this past weekend in its FIFTH week in release.
