Weinstein Company Postpones Apollo 18 and Piranha 3DD

The Weinstein Company — and more specifically its Dimension Films genre wing — has pushed back the release of two of its major horror films for 2011. Piranha 3DD, originally slated for a September 16 release, will now hit theaters on November 23, while Apollo 18 has moved from April 22 all the way to January 6, 2012.

Controversial Serbian Film Gets American Release

A Serbian Film, an exploitation movie from, well, Serbia, has earned notoriety around the world for its graphic depiction of violence, rape, necrophilia and pedophilia, and now it’s coming to the US. Invincible Pictures will release the movie — about a porn star who’s recruited for an “art film” that turns out to be more than he expected — in edited format (the same way it was released in the UK late last year) in select theaters starting on May 13. You can vote to bring the movie to a location near you at www.serbianfilmmovie.com.

German Zombie Flick Rammbock Hits US in May

Rammbock (AKA Rammbock: Berlin Undead), the first entry in the Bloody Disgusting Selects series or horror movies showing in select AMC Theaters across the country, has an offiicial release date: May 4. (That’s a Wednesday, by the way.) The German zombie movie will play at least twice a week for a month at the theaters listed below before presumably heading to home video some weeks later. Until then, check out the trailer and some pics.

Somebody’s Watching Me: The Resident DVD Review

We’re used to seeing Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen, The Losers) in major motion pictures, so why would a movie starring the two of them go straight to video? Well, in the case of The Resident, it’s because it’s just not very good. In some ways, it’s to Fatal Attraction what The Roommate was to Single White Female.
