Kyra Sedgwick (you might know her as “The Closer”) has signed on to co-star with Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the upcomng Lionsgate ghost story Dibbuk Box. She’ll play Morgan’s ex-wife, the parent of a girl who becomes possessed by a demonic spirit tied to a strange box (Xbox?). Catch the film in theaters this Halloween.

Natalie Portman won the Golden Globe Award last night for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for her lead in the psychological thriller Black Swan, paving the way for her to earn a rare major-category Oscar win for a horror/suspense movie.

It’s been rumored for over a year and a half, but it looks like there will indeed be an American version of the Japanese manga (comic) Death Note. Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that the project will serve as the second directorial effort from Shane Black, the once-golden boy screenwriter who ignited bidding wars for scripts like The Last Boyscout, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Last Action Hero (not to mention Lethal Weapon and The Monster Squad) and who made his directorial debut in 2005 with the great Kiss Kiss Ban Bang. Unfortunately, unlike Kiss Kiss, Black won’t be writing Death Note.
