I don’t know why The Experiment, a remake of a 2001 German thriller (Das Experiment, from director Oliver Hirschbiegel, who’d go on to helm the ill-fated The Invasion) about a psych study that assigns participants roles in a prison setting, is going straight to video. It stars two Academy Award winners — Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker — and judging from the newly released trailer, it has high production value and just looks…good.

Russian director Timur Bekmambetov, who made a name for himself with the FX-heavy fantasy films Night Watch and Day Watch and came to prominence in mainstream American with Angelina Jolie's Wanted, has reportedly signed on to direct the upcoming adaptation of the tongue-in-cheek novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It had previously been announced that he would co-produce the film with Tim Burton...

Zombie movie fans were spoiled last year with treats like Zombieland, Dead Snow, Deadgirl and Pontypool (though the latter didn’t technically feature “zombies”), but 2010 has been a fairly dry year for the cinematic walking dead.

Catfish was one of the more buzzed-about movies at the Sundance Film Festival this year, and now an official trailer for the September 17 release has come out, but should you watch it? According to at least one reviewer, you shouldn't, because the film relies so heavily on mystery that revealing even the smallest details might spoil it for you. I haven't seen the movie, but I watched the trailer, and I don't feel like I necessarily know where it's going. In fact, it makes me want to see the movie more; kudos Rogue marketing department! That said, it's up to you to decide how much of it you want revealed before you plop down your $10.

We’ve already seen the likes of Messengers 2, White Noise 2, The Cell 2, Stir of Echoes 2, not to mention multiple DTV sequels to Boogeyman, Pulse and Anaconda, plus upcoming sequels to 30 Days of Night and Quarantine.

It’s still playing in select theaters and on demand, but those of you who can get the Investigation Discovery (ID) channel will be able to see the acclaimed documentary Cropsey this week for free (well, aside from the cost of cable). It’s not a fictional horror movie, but rather a true-life one — the tale of a series of child murders from the ’80s that become linked to a creepy urban legend. Cropsey makes its TV debut on Friday, August 13, at 9:00 PM ET/PT on Investigation Discovery.

Like a lot of people, I’ve largely abandoned network TV, but NBC has just bought a script that has piqued my interest, if only for the title: Zombies vs. Vampires. According to Deadline, it’s a “fun buddy cop” show that’s described as follows:
