Round Peg in a Square Hole:Circle DVD Review

Circle
© Indican

Circle is a low-budget slasher posing as a police thriller — or is it the other way around? Either way, the two don’t mesh. It’s pretty dull and doesn’t bring much to the table other than a solid cast that includes vets like Gail O’Grady, Peter Onorati, Michael DeLuise and Silas Weir Mitchell and up-and-comer America Olivo, who’s generated a bit of following with appearances in Friday the 13th, Bitch Slap and Neighbor (also releasing this week). As such, she’s featured on the Circle cover art, although she isn’t one of the main stars (sorry guys, but you do get a shower scene). Read about it in my review of Circle.

Predators 2 on the Way!

Predators

Although it never hit number one at the box office and suffered a precipitous 70% decline in ticket sales in its second week of release, Predators has been successful enough (both commercially and critically) to warrant a sequel, and lo and behold, producer Robert Rodriguez has revealed that he's gotten the go-ahead to pursue a follow-up. He told IGN that the idea is to go "bigger" with perhaps "a new storyline, new location and world." He's going to take pitches, so scribble down your best ideas and stake out his house, stat! How about the Predators round up all of the humans who have beaten and/or survived them? Arnold, Danny Glover, Adrien Brody, maybe even Sanaa Lathan and whoever the heck was is Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem...OK, maybe not.
